MEET THE TEAM

MARTIN McCAFFERTY

CLINICAL LEAD PODIATRIST
BSc (HONS) MRCPOD

I believe that footcare is of great importance. My background prior to training as a podiatrist, was in sports therapy. That's when I first developed a keen interest in working with athletes, their rehabilitation and biomechanics of sports movement.

As the clinical lead at Foot Medic, part of my role includes identifying training needs and implementing our clinical skills strategy. This helps all of us to keep up to date with the latest, evidence based practices which, in turn, means better outcomes for our patients.

My main podiatric interests include biomechanics and podopaediatrics. Podiatry is a very exciting career, one which provides a great deal of variety and satisfaction. To me, the best part of my job is hearing a patient tell me just how much of an impact I have made.

The greatest experience of my podiatry adventure would be when I volunteered at The Special Olympics in Los Angeles in the summer of 2015. This gave me invaluable experience of working with podiatrists from all over the world, treating and screening athletes, young and old, with intellectual disabilities.

In my spare time, I enjoy attending football games with my dad, something I have been doing since I was 5 years old.

AFSHAH YASEEN HAMEED

ASSOCIATE PODIATRIST
BSc (HONS) MRCPOD

From a very young age I knew I wanted a job that would help people. Even after 10 years of practicing Podiatry, when patients arrive to the clinic in severe pain to a short time later tell me how they’re “walking on air” still makes my heart burst. I love the feeling I get from being able to make such a huge difference with my treatments.

Becoming part of the Foot Medic team feeds my passion for podiatry as a result of learning additional high quality treatments this clinic has to offer. From ultrasound to force pressure plate analysis this clinic is the gateway to revolutionary podiatry and I’m proud to be part of it!

In my spare time I love making memories with family and friends. Cooking and trying new foods is also a hobby of mine. Im a volunteer charity called Worldcare Foundation. We help people from all over the world including Yemen, Syria and Rohingyana.

In September 2019, my charitable work took me to Lebanon, providing aid with my own hands. I managed to raise thousands of pounds to help pay for food packs and educational packs for the Syrian refugees. I hope to travel again soon and develop a foot screening service to those so desperately in need, especially the children.

Ben Morrison

ASSOCIATE PODIATRIST

BSc (HONS) MRCPOD

I started studying podiatry because I have a genuine desire to help people. The best part about my job is seeing the positive impact my work has on the lives of patients, to see them leave the clinic happy and free from discomfort is so rewarding.

I enjoy all aspects of podiatry, from routine nail appointments, through to more complex musculoskeletal assessments, however my primary interest is wound care.

During my time at university, I undertook several placements in wound clinics, working on the treatment and maintenance of lesions and ulcers. This work often involved working directly with patients suffering from diabetes and other circulatory conditions that impacted the health of their feet. For me, this work highlighted the importance of preventative care particularly in regards to diabetic feet, and it is a passion I have carried on to my role as a podiatrist at Foot Medic.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf and walking my dogs.  Thats why I appreciate the importance of the correct footwear and how this can impact performance on the course and comfort off the course.

LINDA MacLEOD

PRACTICE MANAGER

My name is Linda and I am the Practice Manager. It’s very likely I will be your first Point of contact at the Clinic, either via phone, email , or having wandered in looking for advice and information.

My role is varied so no two days are the same. From ordering stock, to making appointments, co -ordinating clinics, and keeping staff and patients happy…the list is endless and changes all the time to best suit the needs of the clinic.

I have always worked in roles involving dealing with the public and it’s where I am happiest, being a self confessed “people person”. I always strive to give the best of myself and if my Mother taught me nothing at all, then “ treat others as you wish to be treated yourself” resonates very strongly with me. We are a happy Team, and never happier than when I bring in some home baking for the Team, whether its empire biscuits, brownies or millionaires shortbread being among the favourites….and let’s not go there with the tablet!

Out of work, I very much enjoy cooking, baking and cake decorating, having had my own business for a number of years I like to keep up to date with new trends and techniques. I also like to keep fit and catch up with my grown up kids whenever I can.
